Cool Coasters – Stiegl Red & White

We spent a very hot five days in Vienna last week. On Thursday, we went the Stiegl Ambulanz in the Altes Krankenhaus (AKH)  to meet some friends. A nice evening in a huge courtyard, under the trees, away from traffic noise, but right in the middle of the city.

As the name suggests, they serve Stiegl beer, a nice bräu that actually comes out of Salzburg. Stiegl uses the colors red and white on everything, and they did a really, really nice job on their coasters!

BMW Mini Roof-decal Ideas

When the re-designed BMW Mini appeared in 2001, one thing that made it cute and appealing was that you could customize it with roof decals. The ones I remember the most were the black-and-white checkerboards, and the striking red-white and blue of Great Britain’s flag.

Improving the Running Monk

When I was fresh and new to Munich, I did some art work for the MH3: the Munich Hash House Harriers. This jolly, irreverent, sociable bunch of really nice people, describe themselves as “a drinking club with a running problem.”

Anyway, they needed a T-shirt design for their 2003 Oktoberfest Run Extravaganza Blowout Event. After I finished the T-shirt, I decided to try a redesign their logo too…

Designing the Wanderkind Logo

The idea for the company name Wanderkind came to me as my personal interest in the German language converged in space and time with my desire to “work from anywhere.”

A short time later, I played with designing a logo for Wanderkind. What follows is a visual and textual account of the Wanderkind name, and my attempt at designing some logos to present it. Hope you enjoy!
