After spending yet another hour updating, downloading and re-installing stuff on my computer I really needed to get out of the house.
Simple, just put the laptop in stand-by mode, pack up, and leave, right?
Who would have thought this led me to think of Grandma’s wise words?
Ah, but then Windows suggested I Install Updates and Shut Down.
Seemed like a good thing to me, because security updates are my friend, and I always trust software from Microsoft Corporation.
Trouble is, they neglect to tell you how many updates need to be installed, how long it will take, and that you can’t do anything until it’s done!
As soon as I clicked OK, I knew it was a mistake: Please wait…do not power off, Windows will shut down automatically when the updates are complete.
Uh oh.
So while I was watching all 42 updates being installed, I kept thinking about Grandma saying: A watched pot never boils
The more I watched, the slower the updates went, the more subway trains I missed.
A watched PC never boils
