A few years ago, I made a year-long comic tribute to those precious sayings that my Dear Old Dad utters on a regular basis.
I drew one “Dadism” per week and e-mailed a scanned image from my home in Munich to his office in Tacoma, Washington, USA.
I’m not sure if he enjoyed the weekly artwork or was tormented by the reminders. Dad claims that many of the sayings “aren’t his fault” and have been handed down through the generations.
Anyway, Dadism comics tend to “completely miss the point” and depict some sort of visual pun or double-meaning.
I hope you’ll enjoy their resurrection on this web-site over the coming months, and not be too offended!
Today’s entry is “That’s Just What the Doctor Ordered”, which usually comes after an ice-cold Coca-cola on a scorching hot day. Or perhaps after some freshly-home-made strawberry shortcake in mid-July has been gobbled up.

Having the screwy brain that I do, this phrase always made me snicker, because, well, Doctors sometime order things that aren’t so pleasant!
