So you’re headed to the big Oktoberfest this year, eh? Even if you can’t make to Munich, there’s bound to be a local version, right?

And perhaps you’re not sure about springing for the full regalia, or trachten–traditional Bavarian clothing.

Well why not show up in an appropriately themed T-shirt?

Leather…or Beer?

Yup, trachten is expensive. A Lederhosen (leather pants) outfit can set you back more than $150 Euros. With the current exchange rate, that’s like $50,000 US dollars (just kidding!)

And a full Dirndl (think “Heidi” dress) can be even more expensive, because it’s women’s wear, and hence requires lots and lots of accessories.

To top it off, you or your neighbor are just gonna spill beer (that you can no longer afford) and ruin your investment.

So why not save a few bucks/euros and go for a laugh or a raised eyebrow with a little Oktoberfest humor?

Our “bier her, du hundling” apparel uses an appropriately blurry font to match the desired state of the occasion.

Roughly translated, “bier her, du hundling” is Bavarian for; “Dude! Gimme a beer!”, but slightly more crude.

For you German 101 students out there, the high German would be something like; “Ich möchte ein Bier, bitte”…but with a sense of urgency.

According to one Oktoberfest Lexicon we’ve found, you are entitled to shout “bier her, du hundling!” to a waiter after they’ve ignored your request two or more times. It’s not super-polite, but hey, you’re thirsty! Let’s just say this: wear the shirt, but don’t shout the phrase!

The hazy, blurry font and the smile on your face says you’re only joking, anyway. And you might score foreigner-trying-to-use-the-local-dialect points as well!
